Nancy Massotto,
Executive Director and Founder of HMN National

Nancy Massotto is Executive Director of the Holistic Moms Network. She is also the mother of two boys, both born at home. Before embarking on her journey into motherhood, Nancy completed her Ph.D. in political science and international relations with a specialization in gender studies and feminist theory at the University of Maryland, and also holds Master’s degrees from both the George Washington University and the University of Maryland. During her graduate studies, Nancy taught classes on gender, international relations, and feminist theory at the University of Maryland, American University, and the George Washington University. Nancy spent several years working for non-profit research institutes and organizations while residing in the Washington, D.C. area, including the Women’s Research and Education Institute (WREI) and the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW). Motherhood renewed her interest in community building and strengthened her commitment to natural living, from which the Holistic Moms Network was born. She and husband Mike are now working to restore their 1906 Queen Anne, which is also home to their first "children" - B.J. and D.D., two rescued mutts named after the founders of chiropractic medicine.  She is a dedicated advocate for breastfeeding, natural childbirth, and alternative health care.
